RenewOak was established in 2019 to develop services to the wine industry. In particular, RenewOak is commercialising technology developed by Jon Blakeman, see below, that extends the useful life of oak wine barrels. Our vision is to help wineries continue to produce quality wines but with lower operating costs and improved environmental impact.

As a Project Manager on major infrastructure projects throughout WA and elsewhere for 25 years, Jon has gained a wealth of practical technical and commercial experience. He is the inventor of the process used by RenewOak, and co-founder of the business. Over the 2017-19 he undertook the initial development of the technology with associates in the Margaret River wine district.

Originally a mechanical engineer, Kim has held senior executive roles in significant corporates and has extensive strategic management consulting experience. He has recognised expertise in the commercialisation of new technology and has established and developed new technology-based businesses. With Jon Blakeman, he founded the business in 2019.

Hugh is a 40-year veteran of the Australian wine industry. A graduate of Roseworthy Agricultural College SA and the German Wine Academy, he has held senior marketing and production positions in ASX listed and private wine companies. Through his experience, Hugh has a great understanding of both the winemaking process and the economics of the winery. He currently consults to a range of winemakers and continues to make his own wine.

Shane has held senior winemaker and operations roles with Massoni, Cheviot Bridge, Lion Nathan Wine Group, St. Hallett, Petaluma and others. Based in SA, Shane brings to RenewOak the practical operations requirements of the sector combined with a deep understanding of the art of winemaking.
